Up at "the ridge", you begin to get a sense of how vast the Olympic Mountains truly are.  Winter activities include skiing, snowboarding, sledding, and snowshoeing. Unfortunately, the lodge was lost to a fire in 2023. Hopefully it will be rebuilt before too long, so that visitors can once again get a cup of hot cocoa and warm up inside.

The New Dungeness Lighthouse was first lit in 1857 and was the second lighthouse established in the Washington territory. The 5-mile hike to lighthouse is worth it, but check the tide table first. If you don't time it right, you may not have a beach to walk back on!

The bell tower rises to 82 feet above ground level.  The clapper for the bell strikes it from the outside, rather than the inside, giving it a distinctive tone.

Tongue Point at the Salt Creek Recreation Area is an exceptional place to explore tidepools. The area is at the former site of Camp Hayden, which served as a coastal artillery camp during World War II. The old bunkers are still there to remind us of a much different time.
